Obama: Students Need More Excitement, Less Education

If you didn’t know by now that President Obama is worthless, then you’re a moron. If you did know, then congratulations. You’re among the larger part of society that didn’t vote for that piece of crap in 2008.

Having said that, what I heard today and confirmed by Internet reports had me laughing out loud and using a distinct set of words to describe this president of the United States.

A close friend of mine greeted me at work before 8 this morning to tell me he had just heard on the radio that Obama wants less testing in public schools because it is “boring” to students. Although nothing Obama says surprises me, I looked at my friend with a straight face and said, “Is this a joke? Are you fucking serious?”

He explained he was very serious, and then I looked it up. Indeed, Obama wants students to be held less accountable in the classroom so as not to bore them. I laughed. And laughed again. And then it hit me: This dumbass is an even bigger dumbass than I thought.

“One thing I never want to see happen is schools that are just teaching the test because then you’re not learning about the world, you’re not learning about different cultures, you’re not learning about science, you’re not learning about math,” Obama said at Bell Multicultural High School in D.C. “All you’re learning about is how to fill out a little bubble on an exam and little tricks that you need to do in order to take a test and that’s not going to make education interesting.

“And young people do well in stuff that they’re interested in,” Obama said. “They’re not going to do as well if it’s boring.”

Thanks for that insight, Shirlock. How the hell were you ever elected president, anyway? Oh, that’s right. The people you say are bored by education are the same pricks who put you in office.

Look, it’s no doubt some elements of education are boring. Students like some subjects and despise others. Some students hate certain teachers, and vice versa. It doesn’t take a genius to realize that. But re-writing No Child Left Behind to allow students to be less educated isn’t good for anyone.

And by the way, Mr. President, Democrats voted with Republicans on NCLB. It was not a partisan bill. And while I do not like some parts of the legislation, history has shown it has produced smarter students and, therefore, more productive adults. Changing the bill would be a dumb move, and Obama has racked enough dumb moves in his first couple of years in office to last a lifetime. America doesn’t need another one.

As a 17-year journalist and editor, I have seen the good NCLB can do in public schools. The challenges educators face are more on a state level than a federal one and, thus, Obama needs to let state education departments deal with their own problems. We don’t need education reform to go the same way as health-care reform. We cannot afford to be sick AND ignorant.

Allow me to make another point, Mr. President: The objective of education is to educate – not to make the curriculum fun and exciting. If some classes are more interesting than others, then so be it. Great. If some teachers are more creative than others, fine. But students are there to learn, to prepare themselves for college and, hopefully, a productive career. Whether class is boring is irrelevant. As an Ivy League graduate, I thought you’d know that, you punk.

Obama screws up everything he touches. The very last thing we need him to fuck up now is education in this country. President Bush got it right. So let’s just leave it alone, Barack “Barry” Hussein Obama.
